Training Description
Alcohol Use Disorder is a chronic and complex disease that effects many throughout Los Angeles County. This live virtual webinar training will provide a comprehensive overview of the history of alcohol, the neurobiology of alcohol in a person’s brain and body including how addiction to alcohol starts, the different short term and long effects of alcohol and what happens to a person when they stop drinking alcohol. This training will discuss historical and modern treatment methods including Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) and an exploration of Evidenced Based Treatment (EBT) that may be used by
attendees.
Participants will also be engaged in discussion of how to fully utilize screening and assessment tools with individuals who are using alcohol. With the application of a vignette participants will have the opportunity to explore how to optimize interventions utilizing a clinical vignette.
Participants will be engaged in group discussion, chat, polls and various activities throughout the presentation.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Identify three (3) ways alcohol use impacts individuals physically, socially and psychologically
2. Describe two (2) ways drinking alcohol effects the brain.
3. Apply two (2) screening and assessment tools for alcohol use disorder to a clinical vignette.
4. Discuss three (3) evidence-based treatment interventions for Alcohol Use Disorder
