Training Description
This virtual live training has a special focus on assisting practitioners who provide substance
use treatment in connecting the services provided within the substance use disorder (SUD)
continuum of care with the appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and/or
Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Medi-Cal service codes. These
practitioners include disciplines that are listed in the “Who Should Attend” section of this
training flyer (see above). The training will begin by providing context on the scope,
application, and operationalization of Medi-Cal service codes within the Drug Medi-Cal
Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS). We will then differentiate between different
substance use treatment services and their associated Medi-Cal service codes. Participants
will have an opportunity to practice connecting different substance use services with their
appropriate Medi-Cal service codes. Participants will be actively engaged throughout the
presentation using the chat, polling, and open discussion.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the scope, application, and operationalization of Medi-Cal service codes within
the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS).
2. Differentiate between six (6) substance use treatment services and the Medi-Cal
service codes associated with each service.
3. Practice connecting at least three (3) substance use treatment services to the
appropriate Medi-Cal service codes.
