Training Description:
The purpose of this virtual live training is to assist SAPC providers with increasing their understanding
of the certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Services (CMPSS) and how these services can be utilized to
enrich substance use treatment. The training will begin with identifying the scope, application, and
operationalization of CMPSS within the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS). Case
examples will be used to illustrate how providers can utilize CMPSS throughout the continuum of
treatment, including during the engagement phase and throughout treatment. Documentation
guidelines will be reviewed to assist participants in implementing CMPSS.
Participants will be actively engaged throughout the presentation using polling and open discussion
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the scope, application, and operationalization of certified Medi-Cal Peer Support
Services within the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS).
2. Formulate three (3) examples of how certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Services can be
integrated into the substance use treatment continuum of care.
3. Practice implementation of two (2) documentation guidelines when utilizing certified MediCal Peer Support Services.
