Who Should Attend:

This two-hour-forty five-minute (2:45) live virtual training is a free introductory training and is open to 
SAPC Network providers including:
• Registered and Certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors
• LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs & Licensed Eligible (LE) AMFTs, ACSWs, APCCs
• Psychologists & Registered Psychological Associates
• Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists & Peer Support Specialists

 

Training Description:

The purpose of this virtual live training is to assist SAPC providers with increasing their 
understanding of the importance of self-care as it relates to providing substance use 
treatment services. The training will begin with defining self-care and terms such as 
burnout, compassion fatigue and secondary traumatic stress. Participants will have the 
opportunity to practice multiple self-care techniques throughout the training and develop a 
personal self-care plan.

Participants will be actively engaged throughout the presentation using these practice 
opportunities and open discussion

 

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Define the importance of self-care for substance use treatment providers. 
2. Identify and practice at least three (3) self-care techniques that can be utilized by 
substance use treatment providers. 
3. Develop a personal self-care plan that can be implemented to better care for yourself 
and others.
