I’m reaching out to you in hope that you will help me with a passion-project of mine.  I have written and am producing a feature-length motion picture entitled “Velvet Jesus.”
The film is inspired by true stories, and explores the journey of a young African American man who is trying to come to terms with the horrific trauma that he experienced as a child.  Adapted from the stage-play of the same name, the motion picture stars Ernest Hardin, Jr. and Jensen Atwood.
Financial support for the project has come from the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, B.L.A.C.Mail Productions, and VIM Media Productions.
Closed screenings of the film will be hosted for members of the LGBTQ community.  These closed screenings will be followed by dialogue workshops on Zoom where audience members
will be able to explore how their own personal experiences mirrored some of the themes depicted in the film.  Participants will be able to receive linked referrals to alcohol and drug treatment, HIV testing and mental health counseling. We anticipate this film will help many individuals dealing with mental health, substance use abuse, trauma and other forms of abuse.
As we come to an end of finishing up this film we are seeking donors to contribute financially. We are in need of funds to cover production costs. Your donation will not go unnoticed and will help impact the lives of many. Thank you in advance for your kind donation.
