Last Friday Of the Month Professional Training Series

“Treatment Planning and Engagement” is a refresher workshop for counselors, clinicians and case managers to effectively
engage patients in and through treatment, including multiple levels of care, by utilizing the ASAM Dimensions and Case
Management to achieve individualized care coordination. Workshop participants will learn how to incorporate Case
Management into Treatment Planning, when the emphasis should shift from Treatment Planning to Discharge Prevention
Planning, and the importance or coordinating a patient’s care as an effective engagement technique.

BILL TARKANIAN, B.A., J.D., L.A.A.D.C. is a recovering lawyer, and the Director of Program Development
at the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol & Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA). He is an advocate for marginalized populations, including the homeless, the LGBTQ, and others systems impacted. He leads L.A. CADA’s Court Diversion efforts, as part of the agency’s commitment to legal and health equity. Bill also enjoys teaching, as an Adjunct at Azusa Pacific University’s Graduate School of Psychology (MFT track), and with the Los Angeles Community Colleges. He received a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College, and J.D. from Arizona State University’s College of Law.
