Patient-Centered Treatment Planning

Last Friday of the Month Professional Training Series

Drawing from the 12 Core Functions, their Global Criteria, and the L.A. County Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) provider manual, participants will learn the fundamentals of building a Patient-centered treatment plan. Problem identification, short- and long-term goal formulation and differentiation, S.M.A.R.T. goal generation, and action planning are emphasized. Navigating the ASAM Criteria six dimensions as applied to a chemical dependence treatment plan is also covered. Upon completion of the didactic portion of the training, participants will experience practical application of the principles learned by grappling with vignettes for fictional chemically dependent patients.

BOB TYLER, BA, LAADC, CADC II, SAP has been working in Inpatient, Residential, and Intensive Outpatient levels of care since 1990. He is a Past President of CAADAC, a founding Board Member of CCAPP, on faculty at LMU Extension in the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program, and owner of Bob Tyler Recovery Services (consulting, addiction private practice, counselor training, and public speaking). He authored the EVVY Award-winning book, Enough Already! A Guide to Recovery from Alcohol and Drug Addiction, and has produced several educational DVDs, including Craving and Relapse, which is shown in over 1000 treatment centers across the country.
