WHAT IS “INFORMED CONSENT” and WHY DOES IT MATTER? Participants in this training will learn about the importance of disclosing to participants, at intake, the following: An SUD Diagnosis; the full Continuum of Care (Inpatient, Residential, Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, Recovery Support Services and Withdrawal Management Services); the definition and application of “Medical Necessity” as it relates to placement, duration of care and transitioning through multiple levels of care; the different modalities of Treatment; the availability and viability of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT); the avail- ability of Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services; the funding sources for treatment; L.A. County’s Patient Hand- book; Privacy and Patient Confidentiality; Program Rules and grounds for discharge from treatment; and the importance of patient preference and patient-centered treatment.
